“Surrender clears the storm,
release opens the skies,
and love shines through
like the sun you forgot
was always there.”

If you’ve been following my podcast lately, you’ve probably heard me talk about my soulful healing journey I have been on since November of 2024. It’s been a powerful season in the never-ending series called My Life.
This current episode began after one unforgettable evening in June 2023 when I got triggered and emotionally shut down, cutting myself off from the women I love. I didn’t consciously choose to disappear; it was more like my entire being was hijacked by an unconscious protective energy shield. Even after more than two decades of doing my inner work, this became my ultimate test, a surprising invitation to go even deeper, to shed my layers and earn what I had been diligently working towards, my neurological freedom.
I made a sacred promise to myself that night: I will do whatever it takes to uncover the unresolved pain and belief’s within me and finally heal my inner world. That commitment brought me back, again and again to my favorite picturesque mountain town out west. Over the next year, I returned four more times, spending a week each trip working with incredible energy healers and practitioners across many modalities. Each time, I carried the same three-part mindful intention into every session:
Surrender, Release and Let Love In. Here’s what those words meant to me:
Surrender: As Carl Jung said, “What you resist persists.”
For me, resistance wasn’t just an idea, it was an electric charge pulsing through my nervous system like a force field, protecting me from the imagined dangers of vulnerability. Surrendering meant softening into that uncomfortable charge, choosing to be with it and feel it rather than resist it and fight it.
Release: “We receive what we believe.”
That simple truth exemplifies many of the autopilot stories I had repeated over the years. Stories unconsciously designed to validate painful, limiting beliefs that I wasn’t enough, didn’t belong, not acceptable, wasn’t lovable. Releasing meant letting go of those looping, disempowered narratives and the negative energy they trapped in my body.
Let Love In: “My purpose in life is to receive”
Once I surrendered the resistance and released the shame-fear based stories, something opened. I could receive love, not just from others, but from myself. Because yes, it’s true: to fully love others, we must first learn to soulfully give love to ourselves.
But here’s the thing, love isn’t just a thought. It’s a felt sense. We can say we love ourselves, but unless we allow our heart and soul to truly feel it, we may remain blocked. Love needs space to move through us. That’s what healing allows.
Healing was like standing in the eye of an emotional hurricane. At first, I built walls to block the wind. But over time, I learned that safety didn't come from resisting the storm, it came from opening the windows, letting the air move through, and realizing the calm was always waiting inside. So, where in your life are you still bracing against the storm instead of opening to the calm within?
